         <description><![CDATA[<div>The thymus is the organ in which T cells are made. Many people with complete DiGeorge Syndrome get a thymus transplant. Unlike many transplants, recipients are unlikely to reject the transplant, since their body is unable to make&nbsp;the T cells that would be responsible for rejecting it.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Without T cell formation, the body is unable to fight off pathogens. Due to this, early diagnoses of DiGeorge Syndrome in infants typically present with triad immunodeficiency (75%). On top of that, congenital heart issues (75%) are typically present. In later diagnoses, psychological disorders are usually present (60%). A commonality with the disorder is also visual abnormalities to the spine, face, ears, noses, and eyes (abnormally wide spacing). The severity of the symptoms present depends on the genotype.          <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;Anonymous Jane is what we call a 22 Qutie. In utero, Anonymous Jane's parents found out that their precious babe had Tetralogy of Fallot and Absent Pulmonary Valve. Anonymous Jane was diagnosed with DGS a week after birth. She is now 7 years old and thriving! In her case, she has Velocardiofacial Syndrome (apart of DGS; includes smooth philtrum, hooded eyes, small eye openings, flat midface, thin upper lip, small and lower ear canals, and cleft palate), low muscle tone, heart complications, G-Tube (due to low muscle tone in her face she pockets food in her cheek), and a speech impediment. Her parent's are waiting for results regarding her Calcium levels in her blood and tests to see if she has Osteogenesis Imperfecta, commonly known as Brittle Bone. Each case is very different, but this is Anonymous Jane's story.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>DGS cannot be cured or prevented (it's inherited). However, action can be taken for the symptoms of DGS. Each individual diagnosed with DGS would have a different plan as DGS is not the same for everyone. This could include heart surgery, thymus transplant, vaccinations to protect the immune system, physical therapy, speech therapy, calcium supplements, ear tubes, and cleft palate surgery (Medical Professional).</div>]]></description>
