Sustainable development means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The former puts emphasis on ensuring non-degraded natural resources for future generations, eg crop rotation to avoid soil degradation; while the latter focuses on the needs of current society without out future generations having to pay for what we have done to the environment. The former also focuses on the rate of resource use while sustainable development is a general approach to the economic, social and environmental development.

3. Sustainable development means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
From an ecocentric point of view, it puts emphasis on disturbing the natural environment at its smallest extent. It is people's mindset about sustainable development that matters and it is not costly at all to promote sustainable development.
From an anthropocentric point of view, it puts emphasis on regulating people's actions to compensate the environment. For example, if energy is being used, renewable energy is being developed to compensate the loss of the environment to strike a balance.
From a technocentric point of view, it puts forward the idea of using technology as a solution to compensate the degradation to the environment.

1. Sustainability is the use of resources in a way that fosters natural replenishing and minimizing the damage to the environment. For example, Solar energy reproduction. However sustainable development is using resources with future generations in mind while meeting the needs of the present generation, this can be done by legislations and introduction of new technology

2.Sustainable Development means meeting the needs of the resent without compromising the ability of the future generations. Environmental Value Systems can help to achieve sustainable development by their various perspectives. Ecologists are those who believe that everything in the environment is its own entity and as such should not be exploited. They would rather cut back on the current usage of resources.
Anthropocentric people believe that the usage of natural resources can be curtailed by the use of regulations and limitations. As a result they would implement government regulations and taxations.
Lastly technocentric people believe that they can use technology to solve the problems with natural resources. They would innovate and create technology that would generate the production of vital natural resources
