One of the main ideas was the shift from an agriculture society to an industrial society. This meant living in a country that was controlled by farms switching to country controlled by factories. Something that was effected was the women workforce. The women workforce was changed from working at home to entering the workforce as mostly secretaries, due to the invention of the typewriter. Throughput the industrial revolution in America there was many rough patches but they got worked through.

Henry Bessemer was a key figure in this unit due to his cheap and easy way to make steel. He is one of the reasons the steel industry boomed. Steel helped create things such as railroads, bridges, skyscrapers, barbed wire and machines. This allowed people to do less manual work and more machine work took place. Also railroads made it convenient to get from place to place much faster.

William McKinley had a large impact on America during this time. McKinley is from Canton,Ohio and was the republican representative in 1886. The Front Porch campaign is how McKinley campaigned himself. Republicans, like William McKinley, was in favor of keeping gold to back up the money supply. This went against the silverites who preferred switching to gold and silver to back up the money supply.

At the start of the revolution, the American government was very hands off or Laissez Faire. This meant that they stayed out of businesses. Throughout the industrial revolution in America, certain laws were passed to help regulate important needs. These needs would have been the Sherman Anti-Trust Law, and the Interstate commerce act. Sherman Anti-Trust act applied to monopolies and the Interstate commerce Act helped with regulations on railroads. The regulations involved maintaining prices to not over charge farmers and creating standard time zones to prevent collisions.
