One thing a 5th grader could do is keep orginzed because there is more work in middle school. My favorite thing about middle school is my teachers they're very nice. One thing i would've liked to know is we had no lockers.

Hello! Starting middle school is different from elementary school, but very fun. First of all, you have more freedom in Middle school which is neat, but with that comes way more responsibility. In 8th grade, I started a binder with a divider folder in it for each class. This is great for staying organized and being able to flip through notes quickly. Also, stay on top of your work! You do not need your whole life to be school, but make sure to not get behind on work. Finally, ask teachers for help when needed, and take advantage of IF and early morning times.
You are going to be great!

Hey! Im an 8th grader here at Oms! Middle school is a little different from elementary school but theres some many new and exicting oppurtunities here! When i first transitioned to middle school I was very nervous and stressed but after a few days I was settled. Theres no need to be nervous or scared because middle school is great! It just takes a little time to adjust. My biggest tip would be to buy a few extra notebooks and folders to keep handy!

My advice to rising 6th graders is to be prepared! It's a lot different than elementary school. So many things are different in a good way! More classes, more teachers, more friends! Always stay on top of your assignments - they can add up fast but if you do them when they are assigned, you will be just fine! You are going to love it!

1. To prepare, I strongly recommend getting the Infinite Campus App on your phone. It tells you as soon as your teachers put in grades and it helps make sure you stay on top of work.

2. My favorite part of middle school is definitely how I found my "people." In middle school, everyone usually splits into their groups/cliques based on the classes and teams they're put in.

3. One thing I wish I knew before entering middle school was how many classes students have to take. To let you know, we have 7 periods a day (4 academics, 2 connections, and IF), so I recommend using your time wisely. Homeroom and IF are great for studying and getting homework done.

Hope you all have a great 6th-grade year in August!
