This war began in June 2014, marked by the advancements of the Islamic State into Syria. This has created huge negative ripples in civilian's lives. Homes, jobs, families - all destroyed by this terrifying battle between two communities.

One of their earliest actions was taking over some territories in Iraq. This caused some huge impacts on people and society. 

IS is known for their brutality and merciless actions. Countless news reports continually come up about mass-shootings, beheading etc. One of their goals is to make all Muslims swear their allegiance to the leader of IS. This religious conflict has created so many issues in the lives of the innocent.  Residents of Iraq must find  a way to escape the war zones and find a safe place to survive with their families (meaning many lose their homes). 

Children are the most vulnerable in this kind of situation. They are not able to live a normal life: going to school; eating breakfast with the whole family; walking around without any worries about bombs. The population in Iraq, also known as the Republic of Iraq, is approximately 39,000,000 people. Because of this conflict, more than 5,400,000 people have been displaced since 2014. This shows the horrendous effects of a civil war on the civilians in Iraq. The act of the Islamic State trying to gain power by taking control of land is heavily impacting the lives of people. 

Many families have been teared apart, not to mention homes and communities, including schools and hospitals. Many children bear nasty injuries - lives of their loved ones are taken away, terrible physical injuries are suffered from the debris, all caused by the bombings from the Islamic State. This leaves a scar on them for the rest of their lives they must learn to live with, causing heavy burdens on them both physically and emotionally.
