The scholarly sources primarily refer to psychologists and psychoanalysts theories about how fairy tales can cause children to feel like their life path is already laid out for them based on these stories being the foundation for how life should be lived. The topics covered in the articles and that I would like to cover in my essay include the role of women, sexual stereotypes, good vs. evil and the role of evil stepmothers, an emphasis on beauty and femininity, and the journey of the hero. All of these points with corresponding stories to prove that although fairy tales are meant to teach children valuable lessons, they can actually be counterintuitive. The scholarly sources focus mostly on the negative effects from psychoanalytic point of view, which is why I also chose some news articles that look at the same issue from a different perspective. The perspective is one of a regular person in society who was read these tales as a child and who is now contemplating reading these stories to her young daughter due to the implications she knows it could have. 
From the readings, I analyzed the negative effects of fairy tales on children and society as a whole. The fairy tales I will be analyzing will be Beauty and the Beast, Little Snow White and the Little Glass Slipper, all of which are fairy tales written many years ago. In recent years, however, many tales have been rewritten to attempt to change this by representing what views are important in society now. Before writing my paper, I will have to analyze what is being done to improve this issue first.
