The incursion from a local Gunditjmara ranger is a great way to engage year 6 students with ATSI perspectives on past trades! Another excellent element in your mind map is the identification of the two key subject concepts next to the key question. Good job!

 

Have you considered focusing on one content descriptor instead of two?

 

My suggestion would be to focus on the content descriptor ACHASSK150. This would mean reconstructing your first key question about ‘trade-offs’ with another question that covers the above content descriptor in more depth. You can also use your identified subject concepts, ’choice’ and ‘consumerism’, to guide you when formulating the new key question.

 

This can also be an opportunity to make sure the summative assessment clearly assesses all three key questions. This assessment is a great way to assess the above content descriptor, but the mind map shows no evidence of how it assesses “the concept of opportunity cost” (a major part of the content descriptor ACHASSK149). 

 

I believe your student will enjoy their incursion. The summative assessment can provide them with a link to their personal life as a student in their school when planning the ‘Grade 6 Celebration Day Budget Plan’. Great work!
