I am from Barrancabermeja, and in the period from 2014 to 2018 the city was led by Mayor Dario Echeverry, who throughout his term in office did not stop committing corrupt acts against the city. One of these examples is the sabotage of his mandate revocation, because in 2017 citizens got tired of the high level of poverty and unemployment in Barrancabermeja, so they decided to make the revocation to not allow Dario Echeverry to continue damaging the city and them. The mayor in charge at the time of this process chose to activate the law prohibiting the carrying of passengers on motorcycles, taking into account that 80 percent of the population of Barrancabermeja in the rural and urban areas travels by motorcycle, car, motorcycle tricycle or as a companion. For the Public Prosecutor's Office that limitation to mobility affected the democratic process with an abstention of citizenship due to the impossibility of mobilizing to the voting points, the respective inquiry was opened on this case and finding other evidence against the two of them, such as the payment of cash to bribe citizens and voters to vote NO, intimidation and threats to public officials, retention of ID cards, among others, being captured in 2018 for this.
