1) Having Edmentum platform used in the classroom as a remediation tool incorporated into weekly routine.

a) Immediate feedback and remediation are ongoing. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

b) Quickly identify root cause (i.e. understanding, comprehension, holes in previous standards, or vocabulary/language issues)

2) Better prepared for the next unit without having to wait 6 weeks to address deficits that they are not currently learning.

Edmentum will allow the teacher to see how long students spend going through tutorials and how long it takes to complete quizzes/tests

Length of time spent within tutorials will vary by student. Some students want to take detailed notes while others are looking to focus on a single concept before retesting.

I see the ultimate goal is to provide students with the necessary strategies/tools (within the classroom) that eventually Grade repair is no longer needed. Much like the ultimate goal for a special education student or ELL student is to develop skills and not need the additional support of these programs.

Timelines and descriptors matter

My overall question: Is CGR a program for improving grades in a pre-defined timeline or is CGR a system for remediation over the course of the semester, punctuated by deadlines?

----If the purpose of Cardinal Grade Repair program is to replace course extension AND is strictly limited to 3 weeks per semester for assignment/completion then the threshold should be 60-69.

If there is a pre-defined timeline, I think it is unreasonable for a student with a 50 to earn 20 percentage points to their grade in less than a week.

----If Cardinal Grade Repair is a remediation tool that teachers have the option to implement in the classroom at any time and/or a remediation tool that can be assigned during Card Block, then any students who are failing (below 70) should be able to qualify.

Ongoing Remediation

Ongoing remediation that can be used during/throughout the semester, during Cardblock, or at the end of the grading period.

However, OHS pays for other services that my department has also made use of for ongoing remediation... like study.com... I am aware that some of our teachers have concerns with Edmentum around Ga standard alignment, which is why study.com has been a great option.

Tracking

I think there has to be clear parameters for who qualifies first. Then, tracking the total number of students being assigned Edmentum v completing it.

Looking at this against the pass/fail rate, and number of students enrolled in CardBlock, and summative data for each content area.

If students are not allowed to use this program during card block, then the data should be separated.

Is this this blanket remediation plan/requirement that everyone must implement for a failing student? Or is the teacher allowed to/expected to intervene in other ways and/or with other programs?

Edmentum allows for remediation while the current unit is being taught. Edmentum helps the student "catch-up" and fix the deficits while the unit is ongoing and better prepared for the next unit.

Ongoing immediate fixes would also reduce student anxiety levels.
