She has been teaching special education for two years and has been a teacher for 12 years, ten of them she was teaching kinder. She was her undergrad in elementary education and special education and has her masters in special education. She decided to change to special education because she wanted change and always wanted to teach special education because she loved the kids and being able to work with them closely one on one.  

From the interview and observations I can see Jill's love for teaching and want to help these students succeed. One questions I asked her was what was key to being a great special education teacher. Her response was being flexible, having great communication with students, parents and teachers. She talked about how she has been struggling with communicating with teachers as much as she would like because there is not enough time in the day to get around to all the teachers. She walked me through her planning and talked about how as a kinder teacher she planned a week at a time and it was like clock work, but as a special education teacher she plans two days at a time and she plans all her lessons based off her students IEP goals. Her also discussed how her favorite part of special education was seeing the growth in her students. She loved to see them reach milestones and goals and accomplish more then they ever imagined they could. 

Overall I learned so much from shadowing Jill for two days. She taught me so much about loving students and bringing them so much confidence through positive attitudes and mindsets.
