1970 - Now prosthetics are now made made with modern and advanced technology as well as 3D printing. they are also made to have extra comfort to help the amputee as much as possible.

Prosthetics can fall under four major categories such as transradial, transfemoral, transtibial and transhumeral. A transradial Prosthetic is a lower arm Prosthetic meaning that only the arm below the elbow is removed. A transfemoral Prosthetic is a Prosthetic that goes above your knee. A transtibial Prosthetics goes below the knee and it can be anywhere from your ankle to your knee. This is my Grandpas previous prosthetic eye (hence why I could borrow it), as he gets a new one every 5 years.

This prosthetic eye costs $1500.00 and his new one was almost $2000.00. Each time he gets a new prosthetic it is fitted to his extract eye shape and is hand painted to match his other eye.
