         <title>Personal Stress</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A student's personal stress can consist of many different factors aside from academics. From my personal point of view the factors that increase my stress at the moment are school, work, finances, and family. School is stressful due to all of the constant assignments I have which seem to have increased since changing to a more online incorporated learning. As well as school regarding my major and wondering if I will get into the program here at GCU or having to transfer to another state and leave all of my friends here. Work is stressful because of the position I currently hold which is shift lead. Basically, I supervise my other coworkers while the supervisor is doing paperwork. However, since we are short staffed I have had to work more hours and fulfill more of a supervisor role. This ties into the financial and family issues. Financially I have to be independent and pay for school myself. I grew up in a Hispanic household and that can alter the stress that I experience. According to Santiago et al., (2016), in more stressful contexts such as harsher parenting, less parental involvement, and violent neighborhoods, family ethnic socialization and ethnic affirmation<br>were negatively associated (pg. 883).  My parents strict upbringing that still has its reigns on me today influence the many stresses that I experience since I am unable to seek help from them. Another study conducted by Cervantes et al., (2015) found that disruptions in the family<br>system such as poor parent– child communication and parent– child conflicts based on cultural stress are significant factors associated with depression in Hispanic adolescents. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are plenty of groups and methods in which one can seek support during stressful times. Many can reach out to more personal relationships such as family, friends, significant others, etc. Or it can be more broad and involve no one we know. You can go to support groups on campus, if you are a student, life groups, worship, chapel, counselors, etc. There are many resources whether you want to be more public about your issues or still work on them but have it under wraps. There are groups outside of campus as well such as other churches or even meeting with non-profit organizations around the area such as NAMI (The National Alliance on Mental Illness). Due to technology advances there are apps that allow you to speak to strangers who will listen to your ordeals. </div>]]></description>
