Ski jumping is an extreme winter sport that has been a part of the Winter Olympics since 1924. It prominently features an elements skiers and spectators alike love: extreme speed.

How to play
Skiers ski down a steep ramp that curves upward at the end. Sometimes they may reach speeds of 60 mph (97 kph) and travel
the length of a football field before landing. Once in the air, the skiers can rely only on body position to maximize their jump, and the wind direction makes a difference in each jump.

Specific equipment and gear
Ski boots are the essential equipment for ski jumping. They are manufactured for a sole purpose of ski jumping to allow the
skiers to lean forward during a flight. These are flexible but firm in structure, high-backed, and also have a low cut to the front. Besides the ski boots, helmets & eyewear help prevent injuries owing to the risk of traveling downhill at such high speed.

To learn more about ski jumping, you can watch the following video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UAwQ0pe460

What is outdoor rock climbing?
Outdoor rock climbing is an extreme sport in which the participants climb up, across, or down natural rock formations. It usually takes place on sunny days, avoiding bad sight or slippery rocks, which might cause severe injuries, or even death. It requires very strong strength, balance and endurance. Also, some equipments are needed to keep you safe.

Equipments
Usually, the rock climbers will put on a specialised rubber shoes which are often of a smaller size than their normal streets shoes. This can help the climbers to be more aware of their foot placement and use the tightness to their advantage, like fitting in gaps more easily. Besides, climbing chalk is used as well. It helps to minimise sweating of hands and also, to increase the friction between the hands and the rocks.

Safety Gears
Just like other extreme sports, outdoor rock climbing doesn’t have many safety gears. The most basic one is a climbing rope. It is usually tied at the finishing point, like the edge of a cliff or the top of a mountain or hill. Sometimes, rock climbers might wear helmets to lower the damage if they fall down.

Injuries
Injuries in outdoor rock climbing are mainly due to fall and overuse. A fall might hurt you really badly, for example, causing paralysis if you hurt your spine severely, while overuse usually occurs in the fingers, elbows and shoulders, causing muscle soreness. Minor cuts might occur as well.

What is bobsledding?
Bobsleigh is a winter game where two or four players slide on a specially designed icy track using a sleigh that moves at a speed of around 135 km/hr. Considered as one of the high speed and risky sport, it provides ultimate thrill and entertainment to its spectators because of high speed sleighs and the competitive spirit of the game.

How to play?
In this game, either two or four players drive the sleigh on the ice track and complete the race by providing the initial boost and then maintaining the speed as well as balancing the sleigh on the banked and icy track. Any three teams who complete the race are declared as winners.

Equipment and gear
Bobsleigh is considered as the most expensive winter sports as the equipment used in it, including the safety equipment as well as bobsleigh parts, are quite costly. The most important equipment in bobsledding is the sled. Besides this other protective guards are also used.

Introduction of the gear

Sleigh

The sleighs, also known as sled or sledge, used in the beginning were made of wood but modern day sleighs are made of steel, light metals and fibre glasses. The length of the sleigh must be a maximum of 3.80 metres (12.5 ft) for four-man sports and 2.70 metres (8.9 ft) in case of two –man sports. Bobsleigh crews are supposed weigh heavy in order to ensure great possible speed.
The maximum weight of a sleigh including the crews is 630kg (for four -man), 390kg (for two-man) and 340kg (for two-woman) including the additional metal weights. The Bobsleighs are designed as light as it could be to ensure dynamic movement of the crews during the turns of the course.

Previously a team used to consist of five to six crews which were reduced to two or four crews in 1930s. A four-man crew consists of a pilot, a brakeman and two pushers whereas in case of two-man crew, only a pilot and a brakeman are there. The crew is selected based on their strength and speed as initially the crew needs to push the sleigh to provide the initial boost to it which is considered as the competitive speed of the sleigh for the rest of the course.

The pilot steers the sleigh along the correct path, which produces greatest speed whereas the brakeman applies the brakes wherever necessary. The pushers help in providing additional force while pushing the sleigh at the beginning.

Shoes

Shoes are made of synthetic materials. Specially designed shoes are used in bobsleigh. These shoes have spikes of maximum 4mm in size that are helpful during traction at the beginning of the game, when the player pushes the sleigh up to some distance in order to provide the initial boost.

Push Handles

Many push handles are the on the sleigh itself which are used to push the sleigh at the beginning. The retractable side push handles are used to push the sleigh at the beginning.

Helmets

Helmets are a must for the players because of security reasons. These helmets are usually made of high tech plastic composites and are mainly used to avoid head injuries. Some helmets have a visor for the player’s eyes whereas others simply use goggles for eye protection.

Jet skiing, also known as personal watercraft (PWC) riding, is a recreational activity that involves riding a small, motorized watercraft across bodies of water. Jet skis are compact vessels propelled by a jet of water, which provides both speed and maneuverability.

To play jet skiing, you typically follow these steps:

1. Safety: Before riding a jet ski, it's essential to prioritize safety. Wear a personal flotation device (life jacket) at all times, familiarize yourself with the local watercraft regulations, and understand the rules of the area where you'll be riding.

2. Training: If you're a beginner, it's recommended to take a jet ski training course to learn the basic techniques, safety guidelines, and navigation rules. This will help you operate the jet ski correctly and minimize the risk of accidents.

3. Launching: Launch the jet ski into the water from a designated boat ramp or beach area. Follow any local guidelines or instructions provided.

4. Mounting the Jet Ski: Carefully board the jet ski from the rear or the side according to the manufacturer's instructions. Make sure the engine is off before starting.

5. Starting the Engine: Once seated on the jet ski, start the engine by following the specific instructions for your model. Jet skis typically have a keyless ignition or a starter button.

6. Riding Techniques: Learn how to control the throttle, steering, and brakes. Accelerate gradually, maintain a safe speed, and be aware of other vessels, swimmers, or obstacles in the water. Practice turning, stopping, and maneuvering to become comfortable with the jet ski's handling.

7. Riding Etiquette: Follow the local boating rules and regulations, including giving way to larger vessels, maintaining a safe distance from swimmers, and avoiding environmentally sensitive areas. Be respectful of other water users and avoid reckless behavior.

As for the gear required:

1. Personal Flotation Device (PFD): A properly fitting PFD is essential for safety and is required by law in many jurisdictions. Choose a Coast Guard-approved PFD designed for water sports.

2. Wetsuit or Swimwear: Wear appropriate swimwear or a wetsuit depending on the water temperature.

3. Protective Gear: Depending on your preference and local regulations, you may consider wearing a helmet, goggles, or a wetsuit with built-in padding for additional protection.

4. Whistle or Horn: Carry a whistle or horn to alert nearby vessels or individuals in case of an emergency.

Injuries can occur while jet skiing, so it's crucial to prioritize safety. Some possible injuries include:

1. Collision injuries: Collisions with other watercraft, obstacles, or swimmers can result in cuts, bruises, broken bones, or more severe injuries.

2. Falls and impacts: Losing control or being thrown off the jet ski can lead to injuries from falls or impacts with the water or the jet ski itself.

3. Overexertion: Jet skiing requires physical exertion, and prolonged riding can lead to fatigue, muscle strains, or cramps.

4. Hypothermia: In colder water or weather conditions, prolonged exposure can lead to hypothermia. It's important to dress appropriately for the conditions.

5. Drowning: In extreme cases, accidents or mishaps can lead to drowning.

Introduction

Have you ever seen a Youtube video where someone was in between two massive cliffs, walking over a thin rope, falling, and dangling on a cord? Well that is something that might happen within the sport: Highlining.

What it is

Highlining is an extreme sport, performed at a great height, namely between mountains, buildings and bridges. If you were to do it, a tight rope would be on each side of a canyon, and you would have a tight gear on your waist, connected to the rope. You would balance your body on the thin rope, trying to get to the other side.

Why it is considered an extreme sport

Some people might believe it is extremely dangerous, as if the gear gets loose, or the rope breaks, the human being drops down into their death. Despite the fact that accidents are potentially fatal and that highlining deaths have happened, statistics show that highlining has become a really safe sport if practiced according to safety standards. Humanity has improved, and deaths or injuries have been.

Me, personally believe that extreme sports don't matter as much on how dangerous it is, how it is uncommonly weird, how people earn exorbitant amounts of money, but matters on how your mindset works. Just think about it, what extreme sport isn't scary. Ski jumping, for the amount of speed; Parkour, for the amount of injuries on flips and jumping off of buildings; Bungee jumping, for how your heart rate just immensely increases for the feeling that you're gonna fall to your death on the ground and the quick gigantic pressure of stopping; countless more that I didn't name all make you feel scared. Don't believe me? Go out and try some of them, i'm sure you'll get freaked out.

Past Injuries:

Before the year 2016, there had been 69 incidents reported. The first recorded one was in 1999, and the popularity of the sport slowly rised, causing more and more accidents. There were 38 in the year 2015. Statistics show that most incidents happen in late summer to early winter, and few in spring. Strong winds usually occurs from March to April, although injuries are less. I don't really know why.

Mindset

This crazy sport holds up a rigorous challenge with a slackline discipline, which mindset is far more important than anything. This involves a high knowledge of mental and physical ability, and a bold heart to continue going. To really know what it is, you need to stand on one, or have an experience similar to know what it is. You have to keep calming your heart down, try to stop sweating, and focusing so hard to keep going. This type of slack line provides an incredible adrenaline when tried for the first time, and will overcome many people’s fear of heights.

Here's a video of how this person calms himself down and slowly walks across the slackline:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmFg6I67tJQ
0:46-2:21 3:03-3:15

The crazier type of highlining: Highlining Freestyle

Normally, people just walk on this rope, already very fearful of falling down. People normally say, "Don't look down!" But you have to keep your eye on the rope. Highlining freestyle takes this up a notch, doing more crazy stunts on the rope. Handstands, flips under and over the rope, sitting down and bouncing on a trampoline, hanging on the rope and doing pull-ups and muscle-ups, all of these are very extreme.

Here's a video of highlining freestyle (he looks so fearless!):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obyxQ2FAAbY
0:15-2:00

Preparation

Highline rigging is a complex task that should always be accompanied by experienced riggers.

Here are some fundamental safety principles:

The highline equipment must checked before setup

There should always be double anchor and a lifeline.

Assembly verification should always be performed by an experienced second person.

The setup should be checked regularly because of the leash falls, as well as the highline equipment.

The one thing that should not be done: Freesolo

What defines Highline Freesolo is that highliner is not equipped with harness or lifeline. In this regard, the risk of death is always present and the slightest mistake can be fatal. It is not a practice that, impressive as it may be, should be encouraged or celebrated. Fatalities have already happened and certainly were not the last. Remember I mentioned about highlining, and some people would dangle on a cord after falling. With freesolo, if that happens (because a gust of wind blew you off), you would fall down into a departure from life.

So, what do you think?

Do you think that highlining is dangerous? Is the fun worth the danger? Do you want to try highlining soon?

Information found from
https://slacktivity.com/highlining-what-is-it/
and
https://allaboutslackline.pt/en/highlining/
and a little from
https://slacklineinternational.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Accident-and-Injury-Report-2015-Final-EN.pdf

If they found the right wave, they would start paddling and try it catch up the wave, then ride the wave. They would start turning when they are ready. They would always be prepared to wipe out. And for the most important part, the would always keep trying.

Specific equipment and gear.
A surfer needs a few specific equipments. First, surfboards. Surfboards are usually separated into five categories: shortboards, longboards, fishboards and guns. The most popular surfboard is the shortboard. Second, a wetsuit. It can keep your body warm in cold water, helping prevent chills and hypothermia. Third, some surfboard wax. It is important because after you rub it onto the top of a surfboard, it can increase foot grip and allowing better balance in the water.
Lastly, a leash for your surfboard. It keeps you and your board from separating in the water. You don’t want to be stuck out in the breaking waves without a board. You also don’t want your surfboard floating freely into other surfers or smashing up against the rocks. A runaway board can be very dangerous for anyone in the water.

To learn more about surfing, you can watch the following video:

https://www.britannica.com/video/179934/basics-surfing
<var> </var>

What is paragliding?

Paragliding is an extreme recreational adventure sport found in the early 1980s. Paragliding involves flying a lightweighted, foot-launched glider. The glider (sort of parachute) is attached to a person by a harness order allowing them to glide through the air controlled by the wind and gravity after jumping from a cliff or being lifted to a great height and enjoy the view up in the sky.

How to paraglide
Participants can either take off by running or jumping from a high-cliff or have an instructor or friend that has experience in paragliding to push you up to the sky.

For Beginners
But, if you're a beginner in paragliding, it is recommended to take a training course or have an instructor to learn about :

acts of launching, flying, and landing.

Understanding the mechanics of brakes and risers.

Understanding the deployment of a backup parachute incase of incidents.

Equipments
- A paragliding canopy or wing
- a harness
- spare parachute
-a helmet
-Gloves / Compass / Radio (Only if you want to)
- and appropriate shoes
- If so for sometimes, you might need a license

Mental Mindset
Some even ask, "Oh, is paragliding hard or scary?" Paragliding doesn't require much physical strength so it is not that hard if you have enough experience.

To be honest, yes, it is sometimes scary, but it teaches us to conquer our fears and to tell you "Fear is NOT real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that, do not at present, and may not ever exist. That is near insanity... Now do not misunderstand me, danger is very real, but fear is a choice."

Risks (Possible Injuries)
Paragliding accidents can be deadly and often result in serious injury or death. Several things can cause a paragliding accident. Some of the most common paragliding injuries are caused by pilot error, equipment failure, and bad weather conditions.

All about bungee jumping:

Bungee jumping is one of the numerous extreme sports that exist today, which involves jumping from a tall structure while attached to an elastic cord. The cord stretches as the jumper falls, slowing their descent and allowing them to bounce back up before reaching the ground. Bungee jumping is a popular activity for thrill-seekers, and it can be done at locations all over the world.

History:

The modern sport of bungee jumping was invented in 1979 by a group of students at Oxford University in England. The students were inspired by the Pentecost ritual, and they experimented with different types of elastic cords until they found one that would allow them to jump safely from a high bridge. The first commercial bungee jumping operation opened in New Zealand in 1988. Ever since then, bungee jumping has essentially become a popular activity all over the globe.

How it works:

Bungee jumping is a relatively simple activity. The jumper is attached to an elastic cord that is anchored to a tall structure. The jumper stands on a platform and steps off the edge. The cord stretches as the jumper falls, slowing their descent and allowing them to bounce back up before reaching the ground. The jump is over when the cord reaches its full extension.

Safety:

There may exist numerous apprehensions regarding this sport, but it is worth mentioning that Bungee jumping is a safe activity when done properly. However, there is always some risk involved. The most common injuries associated with bungee jumping are bruises, sprains, and cuts. More serious injuries, such as spinal cord injuries, are rare.

Equipments:

Bungee cord, body harness and and helmet are required for bungee jumping to ensure the safety of the jumper.
Tips for bungee jumping

There isn’t a strict apparel directive in bungee jumping, anything you’re comfortable in.

It is of utmost importance that you make sure you are in good physical condition. Bungee jumping can be physically demanding, so it is important to be in good shape before you jump.

It isn’t recommended for women to wear a dress or high heels.

It is completely normal for people to decide not to jump. However, it’s pivotal to make that decision before jumping, not in the last step. If you are feeling nervous, don’t be afraid to ask for a waiver. This will allow you to back out of the jump if you change your mind.

Listen to the instructions of the bungee jumping operator. They are there to ensure your safety, so it is important to follow their instructions carefully.

Try not to eat much before your jump; it’s indeed better to jump with an empty stomach.

Avoid carrying precious particulars with you since they can fall and distract you from the experience.

Snowboarding is a recreational and competitive activity that involves descending a snow-covered surface while standing on a snowboard that is almost always attached to a rider's feet. It features in the Winter Olympic Games and the Winter Paralympic Games.

How to play

You’ve got the gear, you’ve got your ticket, you’re ready to ride the lifts, what comes next? The fun part of course! At its core, snowboarding is all about making turns to control your speed down a hill. Turns don’t just change the direction you’re going, they slow you down too. If you take a lesson, your instructor will go over all of this with you, but if you don’t, here’s some basics to keep in mind.

Making turns on a snowboard requires a special rhythm led by your front foot, followed back your back foot. You need to roll your hips so that you pressure your front foot into the turn first, then you back foot immediately tilts in and follows. Eventually that timing will become natural, but when you’re starting out, it’s important to weight the front foot as you start to lean into the turn, and then consciously weight the back foot to bring you through.

Going faster than you’re comfortable with on a snowboard is easy. Stopping is the hard part. Before you leave the bunny hill you need to learn how to stop on both your toe and heelside edges. Stopping is just a more aggressive turn that instead of just slowing you down, brings you to a complete stop with your board across the slope. To stop you want to pivot your board and body aggressively across the slope, putting all your weight on the uphill edge.

If you are looking for a thrill-seeking sport, then Sky Diving is definitely for you! In this research like essay, I will tell you about its origins , how to participate in it, the equipment, definition etc.
                   Definition
Sky Diving is a exhilarating sport that involves jumping off of a aircraft and free-falling through the sky before deploying a parachute to look at the breath-taking scenery up in the sky.
                   How to participate
First and foremost, find a skydiving centre with a great reputation and is well-established, then check the safety records to ensure that the safety rate is high.
After-that we should question the employee if they were certified by the organisations from your country.Next complete the necessary
Paperwork.Because sky-diving involves risks so u typically need ti sign a waver before participating.Make sure u understand and accept the terms and additions.
Before your dive. You will have to undergo a training session to cover the basics of skydiving. This may include body positioning and how to control the parachute. Most likely you will receive a instructor to help you in the dive.
                 The equipment
You’ll will be provided with a jumpsuit, goggles, parachutes, AAD, altimeter, container, Gaiters, harness, helmets and a hook Knife. For optional stuff u can bring a camera to record the attractive scenery and u can also wear sneakers since it is more advantageous over sandals since they are securely fastened to the foot.
                  The origins of Sky Diving
Skydiving originated from Paris and France on October 22,1797 by the one and only Jacques Garnerin. The development of skydiving began early in the 20th century after WW2,The first organised skydiving clubs and schools were all established in the 1950s.
The safety over the years.Overtime the safety standards and regulations have been implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of a skydiver.National and International organisations such as United States Parachute Association and the International Parachuting Commission, oversee the guidelines certifications of the instructors to ensure our safety.
                 The Price
The price of skydiving ranges from $150-$300 or more. The price is effected of the location, additional services and the altitude.
                       Conclusion
All in all, I would recommend that you should try SkyDiving it is a heck of a experience in the sky u can enjoy the natural views up in the high sky while flying! Therefore I would recommend you to try out skydiving even for one time only.It sure is a one in a lifetime experience. what are u waiting for go try it!
For further enquiries u can go to this sitehttps://www.britannica.com/sports/skydiving

Parkour is an extreme sport which is very dangerous and needs a lot of training to do.

Definition of PARKOUR:
It is an activity or sport of moving rapidly through an area, typically in an urban environment, negotiating-obstacles by running, jumping, and climbing.

How to do?
Parkour is simply about maneuvering through your environment efficiently using jumps, swings, and vaults. No need for flips, wall spins, and other acrobatics. With freerunning, efficiency is less of a concern, and you can throw in these types of cool-looking acrobatic movements as well.

What equipment do you need to use?
Well, basically, parkour is one of those sports which doesn’t need any kind of equipment, you just need your body, thus, it is the least expensive sport to start.

How to avoid getting injured?
You should stretch and warm up before you do parkour, you can also wear gloves if you are really scared. Just DON’T wear crocs when you do it!

You might fall down the first few times you try it, but eventually you’ll figure out the right balance and be able to stop safely in any situation.

What to wear during snowboarding

Bring more clothes than you think you need. You don’t lose anything by stockpiling a few warm layers, and extra gloves in your car, and you could end up being really grateful you did.Don’t Wear Cotton Skiing.

Scuba diving is a mode of underwater diving whereby divers use breathing equipment that is completely independent of a surface air supply, and therefore has a limited but variable endurance.[1] The name "scuba", an acronym for "Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus", was coined by Christian J. Lambertsen in a patent submitted in 1952. Scuba divers carry their own source of breathing gas, usually compressed air,[2] affording them greater independence and movement than surface-supplied divers, and more time underwater than free divers.[1] Although the use of compressed air is common, a gas blend with a higher oxygen content, known as enriched air or nitrox, has become popular due to the reduced nitrogen intake during long or repetitive dives. Also, breathing gas diluted with helium may be used to reduce the likelihood and effects of nitrogen narcosis during deeper dives.

Recreational scuba diverThe undersea kelp forest of Ana Capa off of the coast of Oxnard, CaliforniaDiver looking at a shipwreck in the Caribbean Sea.

Open circuit scuba systems discharge the breathing gas into the environment as it is exhaled, and consist of one or more diving cylinders containing breathing gas at high pressure which is supplied to the diver through a diving regulator. They may include additional cylinders for range extension, decompression gas or emergency breathing gas.[3] Closed-circuit or semi-closed circuit rebreatherscuba systems allow recycling of exhaled gases. The volume of gas used is reduced compared to that of open circuit, so a smaller cylinder or cylinders may be used for an equivalent dive duration. Rebreathers extend the time spent underwater compared to open circuit for the same gas consumption; they produce fewer bubbles and less noise than open circuit scuba which makes them attractive to covert military divers to avoid detection, scientific divers to avoid disturbing marine animals, and media divers to avoid bubble interference.[1]
</sup>

Scuba diving may be done recreationally or professionally in a number of applications, including scientific, military and public safety roles, but most commercial diving uses surface-supplied diving equipment when this is practicable. Scuba divers engaged in armed forces covert operations may be referred to as frogmen, combat divers or attack swimmers.[4]
</sup>

A scuba diver primarily moves underwater by using fins attached to the feet, but external propulsion can be provided by a diver propulsion vehicle, or a sled pulled from the surface.[5] Other equipment needed for scuba diving includes a mask to improve underwater vision, exposure protection by means of a diving suit, ballast weights to overcome excess buoyancy, equipment to control buoyancy, and equipment related to the specific circumstances and purpose of the dive, which may include a snorkel when swimming on the surface, a cutting tool to manage entanglement, lights, a dive computer to monitor decompression status, and signalling devices.
