Our aim is to develop children who have the knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to find out more. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all pupils, aiming to show children where a career in science can take you and celebrating the diverse community of people who work in the field.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Woodlesford School follows the National Curriculum statutory requirements. For Years 1-6 this follows The new 2014 Science Curriculum and Early Years follow Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework 2017. Progression throughout the year groups follows systemic development of subject knowledge and ‘working scientifically’ skills. Teachers follow plans to ensure progression is correct throughout the child’s learning journey.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Assessment is an integral part to all science lessons and class teachers use a variety of ways to collate children’s scientific knowledge and capabilities of working scientifically and demonstrating scientific enquiry. </div><div>Assessment methods: </div><div>-          Pre assessment </div><div>-          Super Six questions – completed at the beginning of each lesson to keep track of how well the class is keeping pace with the content. These consist of questions relevant to previous years learning, previous topic learning and previous lesson’s learning ( quizzes, true or false statements; sometimes, always, never statements, concept cartoons)</div><div>-          Practical experiments </div><div>-          Teachers may use discussions children and verbal comments make to assess a child’s knowledge of a topic</div><div>-          End of unit assessments based on the questions that they have been asked throughout the topic. This will help inform any gaps in learning and will allow these questions and learning points to be revisited again.<br><br></div>]]></description>
