Pages 10-22

In these pages, there was not much going on. Hasting and Poirot met up with Inspector Japp to talk about this anonymous letter. Japp made a lot of strange remarks about Hastings and Poirot's appearance, like they were not getting much older, Poirot is the only one getting younger, etc. They discuss the letter and Poirot gets a phone call. telling him that a woman in Andover has died. An elderly woman who has a small shop. That woman had an abusive husband, so everybody thinks that he killed her. They find out that there was a train guide open to a city starting with B, so they all make a connection to ABC.

Pages 22-33

Summary-

The detectives go to the mortuary to look at the dead ladies body for any help on the mystery. After looking and being there for a while, they decide to go to the nieces house and they talk to her and ask her questions. They hear all about what she says and then she says that she thinks that her aunt's husband was not actually abusive and she doesn't think that the husband would actually kill her aunt. The detectives go back to the shop where the lady was killed and they are searching all around the house and the shop to see if there are any clues or details that could lead to the murder.

Summary- Chapter 7

The detectives go around questioning the suspects of the murder. The first suspect that they go to is the last person to see Mrs. Ascher alive. He is very obedient to their questions, answers all of them truthfully, and generally does not seem nervous at all. Poirot still seems a little hesitant to leave him off the hook, so he asks to see the ABC railway guide. He pretends to look at it, and then Poirot and Hastings leave the house. The second suspect seems more hesitant to answer the questions. He starts yelling at them, swearing, and his wife also looks very nervous. Eventually, he gives in to the questions and answers them. The questions were very similar to the ones the detectives asked the others. Overall, we did not get that far with our conclusion of the one who murdered Mrs. Ascher.

Summary - Chapter 8

The detectives were on a train back to London to their home. They are talking about what the suspects said and their thoughts about it. Soon enough, when they got home, they got another letter from ABC. It said that the next murder will be on July 15 in Bexhill. They meet up with a council of people who are all working on the case. They are thinking that he is a homicidal maniac because he is going on a killing spree, like Jack the Ripper. At the end of the chapter, Poirot said that he is very scared to see what will come next.

Summary Chapter 9- In this chapter a young girl named Elizabeth Barnard has died at Bexhill. She was 23 years old and a waitress. The detectives say that the time of death is estimated to be between 11:30-1 am. There was another ABC guide under the dead body. The ABC murder is very good at covering his traces. We find out that the girl was strangled with a belt to death. It was her own belt. The detectives went to the cafe Ginger Cat where she work. They investigated it. They found out that Betty did not tell anyone about her plans but she went to go meet someone in her beautiful new white dress.

Summary 10-13

In these chapter basically what happens is that they call Betty's sister and she comes and answers whatever questions the detectives give her. She also points out that Betty's fiance was aggressive in words. So then the police start to investigate the boyfriend Donald Fraser. He is the prime suspect at the moment. Also something that I notice is that the people who the murder kills. The person that they kill has someone in their life that could be responsible for it so the murder has someone to blame.

Summary- Chapter 13-15

In these chapters what happens is that the detectives are saying that the murder behind this is a guy. Also what happens is they are investigating more deeply into the murder that happened at Bexhill. Something that also is happening is that they ruled out Donlad Fraser because when they interviewed him they realized it was not him. Someone else named Carmichael Clarke died in Churchston. Now they are investigating that murder. Now everyone is preparing for the next murder and trying to keep everyone safe.
