If you could lead STRATEGY for only one company, what one would you choose and why?

I would want to lead the strategy for Spotify! Spotify is a music streaming platform that has become incredibly popular among Gen Z due to their marketing strategies! An example that I mentioned would be their customized playlists such as Spotify Wrapped and the newest daylists. They also do major marketing campaigns on TV and in billboards that help create more traction for the brand.

What do you hope to get out of this course?

For this course, I hope to learn more about possible strategies that companies implement into their business and which ones are the most successful! Like you mentioned in class, I am also excited to do all of the case studies so we can look at real-life experiences and how effective they were in the market.

What company do you feel has not made good strategic decisions?

An example of a company that did not make good strategic decisions in the past would be Blockbuster. In 2004, Blockbuster was at its peak. They even manage to make the transition from VHS to DVD. All of this came to an end when Netflix began forwarding videos via mail, a time when cable and phone companies began offering videos on demand. A period in which Redbox began renting out videos for a dollar per night through vending machines. Since video streaming is now possible via phone and computer, Blockbuster's retail outlets tend to become obsolete, resulting in the closure of hundreds of stores. The biggest mistake former Blockbuster CEO John Antioco made was turning down an offer from Netflix founder Reed Hastings.

I am a second year marketing major with a minor in global business! I did running start in high school which is a program in WA where you can start taking college classes in junior year which is why I am able to graduate early! I am from Renton, WA which is 30 minutes south of Seattle. I am a part of a family of 5 with two older brothers. I currently work for Student Employment on campus for marketing! If you follow sustudentjobs on IG, that's me!

What are you most proud of, during your years at Seattle U?

I am involved in quite a few clubs at Seattle U including VSA and KSA! At the end of the year, we have our cultural events which are always so much work to plan but so rewarding. I love putting together big events where I can share my love for my culture with my community!

What do you value most in life?

For me, I value all of the relationships and friendships I've made! Each person in my life has taught me so much about both myself and how to treat others, and I am so grateful to be surrounded by such amazing people. My goal in life is to be able to give people as much love as I have received while growing up :)
