         <description><![CDATA[<p>Bias, Prejudice, and Stereotyping</p><p>* Bias - a preference that inhibits impartial judgment.</p><p>ex:  individuals who believe in the supremacy of their own ethnic group are called ethnocentric.</p><p><i>age, education, economic, physical size, occupation, sexual preference, gender</i></p><p>* Prejudice - means to prejudge.  A prejudice is a strong feeling or belief about a person or subject that is formed without reviewing facts.</p><p>ex:  individuals regard their ideas or behavior as right and other ideas or behaviors as wrong.</p><p><i>Every individual is prejudice to some degree.  We all want to feel that our beliefs are correct.</i></p><p>* Stereotyping - occurs when an assumption is made that everyone in a particular group is the same.</p><p>ex:  "all blondes are dumb."</p><p><i>Each person will have different life experiences and exposure to other cultures and ideas.  This allows people to develop a unique personality and lifestyle.</i></p>]]></description>
