Why did we choose the Great Smoky Mountains?

We chose the Great Smoky Mountains National Park because of the land, climate, resources, and location. We chose it for land because Tennessee is a state known for it's ability to grow crops such as soybeans, corn, cotton, and wheat. We chose it for its climate too. The climate of The Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee consists of a summer and winter that is in the 50's to 70's depending upon how high up you are. There are also many resources to be found on the protected land, such as water and fossil fuels.

The Smoky Mountains National Park's climate is good enough to grow crops in the spring, summer and fall. The winters can be extreme, but can also be mild in the lower to middle part of the lands. The higher the elevation the colder it gets with lots of snow.
The best place to settle is in the lower to middle part of the lands where it’s more mild and better for growing crops. Lowlands get 1-5 inches of rain in the afternoon which would help our crops.

Most of the rocks found in these mountains are sedimentary, and were formed by clay, silt, sand, gravel, and minor amounts of carbonate for flattening layers. Archaeologists have been working to discover and find out if the soil is fertile. After tons of research, Archaeologists have come to the conclusion that the soil is fertile. They have found that the soil is the most fertile by the bodies of water surrounding the park.

We would have enough natural renewable resources to stay alive. We would use water from a river or stream, it would be used to drink and for sanitation purposes. We would use it to water our plants on our fertile soil. We would fish in the rivers and streams for food. Transportation from one place to another. We would cut down our trees to make our community cabins and our furniture and boats. We could use our trees for firewood to keep us warm. Also, our environment that we chose has enough livestock like deer's, wild turkeys or rabbits that we could hunt with man made rock tools for food. The sun would provide warmth and photosynthesis for our plants and we would have plenty of good quality air to breath.

We would use this non- renewable resources like natural gas by Drilling into the ground. Also it will give us gas to power tools. Fossil fuel, also by drilling into the ground, will give us gases such as petroleum which will provide heat for transportation and better living conditions. Minerals (tools) to cut into things, chop down things, and to fix things.
