A COL let people having a mutual and multiple communicate/brainstorm space.

-A community in which to share ideas on learning and technology

-Potential Collaboration on projects with outside clients and fellow ITEC individuals

1. Heavy duty storage space, projects can get really big

2. A intuitive hierarchy--perhaps a metadata solution

3. Full control for an author on previous posts. Not just 15 minutes.

Three theoretical foundations:  

Issues to successful online ITEC community:

1, Take care learners’ common or unique interest in COL.

2, Keep the COL active with interested topic and updated information  

Social Presence – A community is a group of people coming together towards a common goal or in this case learning environment.  As the researchers found, an “increased social presence appeared to form a foundation for learning and teaching in the course.” (p.274)

Social Interdependence – When the group interacts the learning is affected by the individual/group needs/wants.  There is a larger collective towards the end though this comes with its down falls when the thinking is not moving forward.

Self-Directed Learning and Self-Regulation Theory– In order for a community to grow individuals are base of the learning of the group.

- who takes ownership/manages the group?

- Is there a moderator?

As an educator who has come to technology (rather than the other way around), I would most like a COL which was a supportive environment for everyone, the technologically gifted and those for whom it isn't intuitive!

To create productive and interactive digital learning environments.

conflict occurs, thus creating cognitive disequilibrium, which in turn
stimulates perspective-taking ability and cognitive development.

1.  What would the learning environment be like, a
mix of online, f2f, or other types of social media.

2.  Who will moderate the discussion students, teacher, etc.?

3.  Clear purpose for the learning community
