I realized that I could not do this column because it was not distinct enough. I deleted everything and restarted. I first created two circle stacking on top of another and used push pull. Then, I took the second circle and curved it in. I then had my bottom. After that I drew lines going across each side of the circle, making it look like a decagon. Once that was finished, I added half circle in between every line, giving me my ridges . I then drew my circular top by drawing two circle on top of another and using push pull again, leaving a hole in the middle. But since I ran out of time, I haven't added it on the top of the column yet.

This is a reference that I wanted to use for my column. The references for the column were interesting because it showed the unique features of the column. I loved how the ridges were curved in and how the bottom was shaped so perfectly. Doric columns were one of the three columns in Ancient Greek and Rome. It was the earliest and simplest columns around, but had many complex details, like the ridges and curving out the bottom.

Once I finished the top, I added it by using the select tool, clicking it three times and using the tool with the arrows that going in three different directions, and line up to the top. To line it up, I did moved it up until it had me locked in by using the shift control. Once I had done that, I moved it into the rest of my column, lining it up to the rest of it. After that, I knew I was finished and there was nothing else that I could do.

When I have done research on columns, I knew that I was going to be doing a Doric column. I wanted to make a Doric column because I felt like that, if I did that, I would spark inspiration in other people. Some of the feature I had made was my ridges. I did not just want regular curved in ridges. I wanted ridges that would stand out from the rest. I decided to make my ridges stand out by making them spiky and even adding some with lines in them. Another feature of my column that I added was the curved in bottom. Again, I didn't just want some regular random bottom that just looked like everyone else's. What I did was to make a bottom that curve into the ground.

Reflecting

I made several changes on the way to my project. When I first started, I had a basic column. It had no ridges, no special curves or anything special. I wasn't really fond of it. I started over again from the beginning. I decided to add spiked ridges. I also added a curved bottom and a circular top. At that point, I felt that I had come close to my goals, but not close enough. I decided to make the bottom and top more congruent. I could have an even more unique column because the features would be different than most I have seen. Another one of my goals is that I would have liked to have a more slender column. I did not want to have such a thick column. I felt that I could improve the shaft of the column by making it more slender. I felt that it was too thick and could be a little bit more slender. By making that change, it would look more of a column. Another thing that I could improve on is the top part of my column. I felt like it was too basic and I could add more detail to make it distinc. I hope in the future I can continue on working my way up to success and learn how to make even more skilled columns.
