My name Is Sean and I'm a Politician I think we shouldn't change the voting age because we won't be the kids opinion it would be the influences of there parents. According to Time for kids the text states "A 16-year-old does not have the same maturity as an 18-year-old. They may vote for someone because he or she is popular."This piece of evidences proves that 16 years old doesn't have the same mind set as 18 year old and 16 year old would vote for someone because the person is famous. Another reason for not changing the voting age is to 16 because they wouldn't be mature enough. According to the website "David Davenport, JD, research fellow at the Hoover Institution, said, “My concern is if 16-year-olds were allowed to vote on any kind of broad scale, what we’d actually be doing is bringing the least politically informed," This evidence shows 16 year old aren't informed enough for them to vote accurately.

I am Kris. I am a student of Canterlot high, it is a theater high school. I play volleyball for sports and I live in Toronto. The topic that I will be focusing on is lowering the voting age. My position on lowering the voting age is negative because I feel as if a lot of teens would just base their vote off of what their parents say, or what their friends say. I'm going to give 3 reasons why I'm against it. To begin with, Number one: Kids under 16 are not old enough or even mature enough to make a huge decision such as choosing a president! 1 piece of evidence to support this is “Experts say that 16- and 17-year-olds demonstrate lower interest in politics, have less political knowledge, and lack the experience needed to participate in elections.” This piece of evidence is explaining why kids under 16 dont have as much knowledge as an older adult would have on voting. My second piece of evidence to explain why I feel as if the voting age should not be lowered is " The 18-29 age group has extremely low voter turnout numbers, suggesting that people aren't ready to vote until later in life. Only 12.5% of 18-year-olds participated in the 2014 midterm election, compared to 42% of the general population. According to the United States Elections Project’s analysis of US Census Bureau data, just 16% of eligible voters ages 18-29 voted in the 2014 election.” This piece of evidence is explaining all of the percentages and the required age to vote. One last piece of evidence to prove that lowering the voting area is a bad idea is “A 2019 Hill-HarrisX poll found that 84% of registered voters opposed lowering the voting age to 16. The poll found every age group was against 16-year-olds voting, with the most support found among those under 35 where still only 39% were in favor." This piece of evidence explains how many people voted that the age should not be lowered and shows the percentage of people. To sum up, This is my own opinion on why the voting age should stay the same.

I am Jessica and I live in chicago.I believe that the voting age should remain the same which is 18.To begin with,3 reasons why the voting age should remain is kids under 18 aren’t mature enough, there influenced by their parents and because they don’t know much about politics. To add, kids aren’t mature enough because they are still young and they are not adults.According to procon.org it states,”Experts say that 16- and 17-year-olds demonstrate lower interest in politics, have less political knowledge, and lack the experience needed to participate in elections.”This shows how experts say that 16 and 17 year olds have low interest in politics so that means that they are not mature enough.Furthermore, the second reason is they are influenced by their parents. In Information about parents influencing kids it states “According to research done by CIRCLE (The Center For Information & Research On Civic Learning & Engagement), involving young people in election-related learning, activities and discussion can have an impact on the young person’s household, increasing the likelihood that others in the household will vote.”This piece of evidence supports the fact that 16 year olds would be influenced by their parents vote and would go based off their parents answer that would multiply the vote twice.Lastly, the voting age should remain at 18 because 16 year olds don’t know much about politics.A piece of evidence to support this is ,”According to Annenberg Public Policy Center, only 36% of all Americans adults can name the three branches of government. Most of these adults have presumably graduated high school.”This explains how 16 years old’s don’t know much about politics only 36% knows about branches of government. So if they don’t know the branches of government then how would they know who to vote for.To wrap, this is my personal opinion from a parent with no children why the voting age should remain at 16.

As a parent of 3 I believe the that the voting age should stay at 18 and up. I believe this because I don't trust a 16 year old to help chose our next president. My research supports my view mentions in https://www.procon.org/headlines/lowering-the-voting-age-top-3-pros-and-cons/ it states "Social scientists Tak Wing Chan, PhD, and Matthew Clayton, DPhil, say that 16- and 17-year-olds wouldn’t be competent voters because “research in neuroscience suggests that the brain, specifically the prefrontal cortex, is still undergoing major reconstruction and development during the teenage years''. Due to these experiences I feel 16 year olds shouldn't vote.
