Energy can flow in many ways. It can go through a wire, be carried through moving parts, and even move through the air itself. In this photo, the chemical energy flows through the bike and becomes mechanical energy, then goes into the generator where it transforms into electrical energy, then flows into the heater where it is converted into thermal energy.
