This is a list of my preferences for an emergency shelter living module. As the ‘client’, this list and feedback from others will help understand and develop the properties of the shelter required. Please contribute a Padlet post with your own ideas, and comment constructively on one other students’ contribution.

· Primary requirements are a bed, and desk for PC.

· Secondary requirements include lots of storage, and some display space, and room for a picture to make it feel like home.

· A small bar fridge integrated into cabinetwork.

· The module must have power with USB charging ports.

· Prefer a private WC with sink to wash hands.

· Communal showers (booths), laundry, dining etc are all OK.

· Low voltage lighting

· Privacy screen ‘shower rail’ type to cover the open side.

I would like my module to cost the least amount possible, and be constructed from moulded plastic to be stackable so that many modules could be assembled from one truck load. Possibly two moulded sections that could be connected to form each module on site (a top and bottom piece). There would be an area to fit a standard mattress and shelving space as well as a desk area.

It would need a 'snap-in' electronics block that contains power for PC and USB charging, a small fridge. Everything else could be communal - toilets, kitchen and dining, showers and laundry.
