         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mass Media and Education: The American Pediatric Association indicated that children spend more time watching television that any other single activity except sleeping. Television viewing may be linked to a decline in reading and verbal abilities. Television can motivate students to read short stories, novels, and literary classics that they would otherwise try to avoid. The educational use of television and other forms of mass media provides even more pronounced opportunities for the development of a hidden curriculum based on a particular ideology or value system.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Computers in the Classroom: In 1983, computers were available in most schools, but on average there was only one computer for every 125 students; by 1990 that radio had dropped to one for every classroom. Students learn at a significantly faster pace and retain the acquired information longer than when they receive traditional instruction. Computer is most effective as a supplemental too, not as a replacement for human contact in classroom.<br><br></div>]]></description>

The combination of these computer developments with other forms of technology and mass media, especially television, offers mind-boggling possibilities for education. Academic usage of various forms of media are added, it is easy to see that by large age, the media and technomedia have become an integral part of most students’ daily routine.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Looking to The Future: Education in The Twenty-First Century</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An important educational issue in every society is the preparation of younger generations for the rapidly changing social world in which they will live. The number of nontraditional students in U.S colleges and universities is expected to continue to increase, and more adults are expected to return to the public secondary schools for adult basic education. Technology is propelling education into the future. Some people fear that nothing short of a total overhaul can salvage education as we know it today. One system would be the public schools, which would be financed entirely by taxes, which would be open to all children, and would not require additional monies from parents, the other system financed through a combination of public and private funds many of which would be created and run by private, profit-making corporations. In conclusion only time will tell if these educational goals will be realized.<br><br></div>]]></description>
