The authors say that university/college should be a place where students can challenge themselves by asking difficult questions(which their professors should help them prepare for). The more successful in teaching the students, the better for the world since they would know how to argue outside of class. For instance, giving free speech is a way to give out their argument and opinions outside of the classroom (into the larger world). This again shows that the author is agreeing towards free speech in college for students

"A student who tries to prevent someone else’s ugly position from being heard should be suspended." These quotes from the passage clearly show why free speech should not be allowed in college. The vocabulary of "suspended and tolerated" shows the author's perspective of being against free speech.
