2.  The pitcher is the player who throws the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of getting the batter out.

3.  The catcher is a position for a baseball or softball player. When a batter takes his/her turn to hit, the catcher crouches behind home plate, in front of the umpire, and receives the ball from the pitcher.

2.  MLB teams rub their baseballs in mud from the Delaware River in New Jersey. The mud allows pitchers to have a better grip and more control over the ball.

3.  Once the baseballs meet the expectations, they are shot out of an air cannon at 88’ per second (60 mph) at a wall made from northern ash, which is the type of wood used to make baseball bats.

2.  A slider usually has a greater velocity than any other breaking pitch.  It’s used to deceive the hitter with movement away from the pitcher’s arm-side.

3.  The 12 most common pitches in baseball are: Four-seam fastball, Two-seam fastball, Cutter, Splitter, Forkball, Curveball, Slider, Slurve, Screwball, Changeup, Palmball, and Circle Changeup.
