Trust vs Mistrust

This occurs in the infancy stage. Babies develop trust when their caregivers consistently meet their needs for food, comfort, and care. A sense of trust allows infants to feel safe and secure in the world, forming the foundation for future relationships. When talking to my parents about how I was during this stage of my life, I found out that cried a decent amount but never for long because the second I got what I needed, it was back to rainbow and sunshine. From the text book "People need to trust the world and the people in it, but they also need to learn some mistrust to protect themselves from danger."

Initiative vs. Guilt

This happens during the preschool age. Preschoolers begin to take initiative in play and decision-making. When encouraged, they develop a sense of purpose and confidence. However, if children are made to feel guilty for their curiosity and exploration, they may develop feelings of inadequacy. In Preschool, I loved to paint and create art. I always remember using different colors and shapes. My parents praised creativity and effort, displaying the paintings and art on the refrigerator. In which made me growing up to always love my art no matter what and looking back at all the progress I have made. From the textbook "If you fell ashamed after doing something, that might keep you from doing to again". That is so true and if my parents did encourage me and my art, I probably would have never continued it as one of my favorite hobbies.

Autonomy vs. Shame

This start after infancy into early childhood. Toddlers start to assert their independence by making choices and exploring their environment. If caregivers support these efforts, children develop a sense of autonomy. However, overly restrictive parenting can lead to feelings of shame and doubt about their abilities. The best thing I can thing about is when a child starts to learn how to walk. In my personal experience, I turned out to be a early walk because since I was the youngest and had to older sibling that were always playing, my parents make jokes about how I couldn't wait and I wanted to join the fun. I always had my siblings there to teach me from an early age. From the text book "If you feel that others have your back, you are likely to try new things and thus develop new skills"

Industry vs. Inferiority

This starts to happen from 6 years old to puberty. Around school-age children focus on mastering skills and tasks, such as academics and sports. Success in these efforts leads to a sense of industry and competency. However, if children experience constant failure or criticism, they may develop feelings of inferiority. When I was 8 years old, I started soccer and I absolutely loved it. I even remember when I scored my first goal and it kept going on from their and I was getting better and better as I had more practice and games. From the textbook " Developing a sense of industry, by contrast, involves learning how to work hard to achieve goals." This is true because showing up to practice and working hard in the practice and in games made me a better soccer player.

Identity vs. Role Confusion

This happens during Adolescence. So adolescents explore their sense of self, values, beliefs, and future aspirations. Through this exploration, they form their identity. If they struggle to develop a clear identity or face challenges in defining themselves, they may experience role confusion and uncertainty. During this time, I joined many different clubs and tried out a new sport other than soccer but often I felt pressured to choose activities solely based on my friends' interests rather than my own which never lasted long because I found no long term enjoyment and fulfillment. From the textbook I found that psychosocial moratorium, and that allows young people to search for commitments to which they can be faithful. In which, I definitely went through that.

Intimacy vs. Isolation

This happens in Young Adulthood. So therefore young adults seek to form close, intimate relationships with others. Developing meaningful relationships fosters intimacy, emotional connection, and trust. If individuals struggle to establish close bonds, they may feel isolated or disconnected from others. This is my current stage of life. My significant other and I moved in together and plan for our future together. We support each other's goals, communicate effectively, and navigate challenges as a team. I do feel a deep sense of connection with my significant other, experiencing emotional closeness, support, and companionship in their relationship. From the textbook it mainly took into the isolation account "strongly associated with an increase in depression and anxiety." Which I can definitely see on the flip side if one is struggling with this stage of life.

This happens in Middle Adulthood in which at this time I have not experienced. Middle-aged adults focus on contributing to society, raising children, and leaving a legacy. Feeling generative involves a sense of productivity, care for the next generation, and making a positive impact. Failure to contribute or grow can result in feelings of stagnation and lack of purpose. For my future, I have a few things that I would love to see and that would be getting my degree and teaching full time but also to get married, have a house and 2 to 3 dogs so overall just continuing my life on the uphill and enjoying the growth.

This happens in Late Adulthood and I have not experianced this part of life yet. In late adulthood, individuals reflect on their lives, achievements, and relationships. Those who feel a sense of fulfilment, wisdom, and integration of life experiences experience integrity. However, individuals who harbor regrets, unresolved conflicts, and despair may struggle with feelings of futility and dissatisfaction. As I reflects on life when older, I hope feel a deep sense of contentment and fulfillment. I hope to embraces my accomplishments, cherishes the memories I created with loved ones, and feels at peace with the choices I made. My wisdom, life experiences, and sense of integrity allow me to accept myself and my journey with grace and gratitude.
