Passion Project Reflection
What did you think about Genius Hour and the Passion Project? Now that you're finished with it, how do you feel about having had the opportunity to choose your own topic, research it, and be creative in the way you presented what you found? What might you do differently the next time? What was teh most important lesson you learned about yourself this year? In two to three sentences respond to the question.

The Genius Hour and The Passion Project helped me discover my true identity, which is to change the world through little actions. By showing a short, straightforward video, I was able to comprehend more and learn how to be a better writer. I was fascinated by my research topic because I was able to learn something new. Because I retain so much knowledge of how ESL kids struggle, I am able to assist these children who will be part of Virginia Beach City Public Schools. While experiencing language barrier and bullying throughout Elementary School, my Passion Project assisted me with deciding on my Senior Project. Not only does the students struggles, but the parents have their own struggles of financial assistance. It inspired me to get out of my comfort zone and help people of my past circumstances. I am able to learn more by doing something that I love because it will feel as if I am not working at all. Someone wise once told me, "If you are doing something that you love, then it will not feel like you are working at all." The one thing I should have done differently is manage my time better and enjoy the journey instead of sprinting quickly to the destination. Throughout the Passion Project and Sparks class, I learned to not compare myself to other people and the importance of self love. A famous quote says, "Self love is not selfish. How can you love others if you cannot love yourself?" Overall The Passion Project gave me the ability to be more empathetic toward others and an opportunity to enjoy life by conquering time-constrained tasks one step at a time.

The Passion projects allowed me to do independent research on a topic I actually had interest in. Studying my topic allowed me to create a deeper connection and understanding of my culture’s history. If I could do this project again, I would add this class as apart of my scheduled classes rather than an extra class, so that I could have more time to add more to my research.

The Passion Project allowed me to realize that I can influence others from my experience. My personal experience applied especially to my topic because I contemplated how I could have navigated high school differently. The idea did not derive originally from myself, but I adopted it because it felt relevant to discuss considering I just finished yet another stressful year of high school. I felt that the brochure I created was a nice break from slideshow presentation, so I worked more efficiently with interest and motivation. If I were to do this project over again, I would have, of course, managed my time much more wisely. I ended up finishing nearly at the last minute and felt detached toward the end of making my project. Also, I would have pulled research from more sources so that my argument could be more well-rounded and professional. Throughout the school year I learned that I worry too much about the past than the present and what lies ahead in the future. Thinking about my past mistakes only creates stress; therefore, I need to work on reducing my stress so that it does not hinder future possibilities.

the passion project has let me discover more about cooking and all that it has to offer. i have learned that cooking can make a person more self grounded. it can also help a person become more creative and express themselves if they're some one who struggles with that.

Passion Project: Self Care, Self Love, Positivity

This passion project was one of my favorite projects I've done. It gave me the opportunity to learn more about what "self-care" really is. It allowed me to do more research on it to write a paper on it to influence others. I loved how we were able to choose our own topic of research, because normally in other classes we don't get to. Getting the opportunity to choose our own topic makes the project less boring. I chose to do my passion project on this topic because of my struggles in the past. I used to have difficulties learning to love myself and staying positive, but I am getting better at doing so. If I am able to do this project over again, I would make sure I have better time management. This is because I did this project last minute,, and it really stressed me out. The most important lesson I learned this year was to not stress too much about everything. I noticed that I was always stressing over everything, even the smallest things. That negatively influenced my mental health in several ways.
