         <description><![CDATA[<div>1890- Sears catalog offers cocaine for $1.50 (No drug laws) First tax on morphine and opium in 1890.&nbsp;<br>1909- Smoking Opium Exclusion Act, banned opium.&nbsp; First federal law to ban non-medical use of a drug. Practice continued through medicinal purposes.&nbsp;<br>1914- Harrison Act, regulated opiates and cocaine.<br>1919- 18th amendment (banned alcohol)&nbsp;<br>Volstead Act- Created guidelines to enforce prohibition&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<br>1933- 21st amendment (repealed 18th)&nbsp;<br>1937- Tax on sale of cannabis, hemp, or marijuana&nbsp;<br>Did not criminalize possession but penalties on not paying taxes.<br>1970- Controlled Substance Act, regulated drugs, five schedules for drugs, most to least dangerous.&nbsp;<br>1971- Nixon declares War on Drugs</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Similarities- Drug overdoses are on the rise. There has been an immense interest in the drug overdoses but the deaths are still on the rise.<br>Differences- In New Hampshire it is more affected by fentanyl although West Virginia is being impacted by prescription drugs. This is so because their work is more injury prone getting them hooked.&nbsp;State government tried to cut back on pain killer prescription drugs but made heroin deaths skyrocket. <br><br><br></div>]]></description>
