Erosion can be caused by the rain or hail that violently hits the rocks, by the particles carried by wind and by waves that create stacks, stumps and arches.
There are three types of erosion:
  • Hydraulic action is when waves crash into the cliffs 
  • Corrasion is characterized by the contact between the particles carried by water and the coast
  • Solution that is the solution of seawater and the material of the cliffs 
  • Attrition means that particles carried by waves crash against each other so they breach in smaller and rounder parts
