Stage 1: In stage 1, the group members of Achievement for all will spend time setting guidelines, getting to know each other, and building trust with one another and the counselors.
Group norms will be set collaboratively and will often build upon each other with each session.
Core group norms will include:

Confidentiality is the expectation.

Respectful dialogue and actions.

Review purpose and goals during each session.

Purposeful participation.

Building trust key from the start of these sessions. In order to build trust, counselors will review the limits of confidentiality with the students and gain assent in order to continue with each session. Students will understand that everything discussed during Achievement for All sessions will be confidential unless someone is in imminent danger or counselor has a legal obligation.

Stage 2: In stage 2, group members will work collaboratively to meet individual and group goals. During these sessions, students and counselors will reflect as a whole group on the topic each week. They will work together to create group and individual goals. These will be adjust as needed based on weekly check ins at the beginning of each session. A "check in" system will be used via Google form at the beginning of each session as a quick progress check.

Group leaders in Achievement for All will be expected to follow a Participative Leadership style. A participative leader provides guidance, as our leader will through curriculum, but will also be expected to participate and encourage input from group members through group discussion (Cherry, 2022). Participative leadership will allow group members to feel more involved in the group by making them feel like their contributions are valuable and important.

It is important for the group leader to stay true to this leadership style in order for the group to remain focused, engaged, and working toward their common goals. This leadership style encourages open and honest discussion, which is a key component in Achievement for All. The participative leader will facilitate these open discussions while maintaining control over the direction and end goal of each discussion.

There is a chance this could lead to some cathartic moments as students grow, accomplish their goals, and create friendships.

Direct Advice - Hopefully, as students grow they will share their methodologies that accomplished their success to help their peers do the same.

Interpersonal Learning - Students will be receiving feedback on their progress from their group leaders and possibly even their peers.

(Yalom, 1995)
