<title>To me this picture represents women stepping out of the role they are given whether it be the role of a housewife or full time mom. Frances Harper did a good job in &quot; The Two Offers&quot; of telling women that there is more to. She explained as a nation we have to fight to given women equal rights and emphasized women have to want it as well.</title>

<title>This picture symbolized Rosa Parks an African American woman resisting to be treated unequally. Also it really sums up the whole incident of her refusing to give up her seat on the bus in one word.</title>

<title>This picture really captured the definition of resistance. This is Nat Turner&#39;s infamous rebellion in Virginia. A massive resistance that lead to an even larger rebellion.</title>

<title>This picture reminded me of Fredrick Douglass and the fight he had with Mr.Covey it symbolized a turning point and the ultimate resistance. Fighting a master usually resulted in a severe beating or some form of punishment but for Douglass it led to a major milestone in his life.</title>

<title>Slave runaways were huge in many stories from this semester. Runaways were significant forms of resistance. This picture made me think of Harriet Jacob&#39;s story of running away and living in a crammed attic for weeks. She refused to be treated like property so she did what she had to at any cost.</title>

<title>This picture embodied the image of slave standing up to a white man and defending himself. Many slaves revolted and reached their boiling point and realized they are humans too and should be treated like so.</title>

<title>For some reason this picture reminded me of Charles Chesnut&#39;s &quot; What is a White Man&quot;. The unity of these African Americans refusing to eat at a White mans restaurant and fighting for equal rights was a great form of resistance. Charles Chestnut really emphasized the worth of a life in his work and made it clear we are all created equal and should all be treated equal. </title>

<title>Michelle Obama signifies what it means to be an African American woman she is very educated. She reminds me a lot of Phillis Wheatley because they both refuse to be label and profiled. They choose not to be a victim of a stereotype formed by society.</title>

<title>This picture is probably the most inspiring to me. Throughout the semester we read pieces from many authors and poets who have touched the lives of everybody who reads their work. All of the people in this picture have done so as well. They have one main focus of resisting to settle for inequality. All of these great leaders fought and are fighting for a better America and this is what makes them so important to our history.</title>
