Connotation- valuable, elegant, delicate, expensive, desirable 

Using the word chandelier adds a positive and sophisticated mood to this section of the story.  

The author used the phrase fancy chandelier so we can learn how Esperanza's great-grandfather views her great-grandmother. We learn that he loved her and really wanted to marry her. He values her and sees her as a delicate, elegant, desirable woman. The message would have been significantly different if the author said, “As if she were a sack of potatoes.”  

Connotation-  hard, sharp, uncomfortable   

Using the word tin adds a negative mood in this section of the story. The negative mood makes her uncomfortable and so its an uneasy feeling in the story.

It is using personification because it is giving an object human like characteristic.

It is effective to use personification because it shows how small the windows are by using something everyone can relate to.

Connotation - jealous,angry, thrilling 
Using this phrase you can tell that Esperanza wants to have someone like Sire. She is jealous of his girlfriend and she wishes she had someone. She doesn't know whys shes never had a boyfriend. I think the author added this to show how much Esperanza wanted someone and how she is maturing.
