The weather was cool and comfortable that evening. I decided to go for a walk to enjoy the comfortable weather. My classmate Pei-Chen told me to go to 823 Memorial Park. He said it was a good place to walk. So I went out to that place.

The park was very peaceful in the evening. There were many trees in the park. The leaves gently swayed in the breeze, creating a rustling sound. Besides me, there were also many other people in the park. I saw a couple holding hands and strolling. And an old man was walking in the woods with his dog. Suddenly I saw two squirrels chasing each other reminding me of when my mother took me to the park to see the squirrels when I was a kid. I felt like I was back in my childhood.

After today's tour of 823 Memorial Park, I was deeply impressed because it is rare to see such lush green land in Taipei City. I also look forward to saving this park to practice sustainable development.

I learned more about sustainable tourism through my own experiences. And not just in books. People can achieve sustainable tourism by planning the right places.

I realized that people play an important role in sustainable tourism. We actively protect the environment while exploring new places. These actions make our travel experience more in line with sustainable tourism.

823 Memorial Park was established to memorialize the Battle of 823, also known as the "N0.4 Park" or "Zhonghe Park." It is 11 hectares in area. It is located in Zhonghe District of New Taipei City and some parts of the area extend to Yonghe District. It's the biggest park between the two districts. It is called "Lung of Zhonghe and Yonghe".

This monument was established to memorialize the Battle of 823. It took place on August 23, 1958. The artillery barrage occurred between Kinmen, Matsu, and China. The Chinese army attempted to blockade Kinmen. The Taiwanese army fought back and successfully defended the area. The battle came to an end in 1979.

823 Memorial Park has historical significance and protecting and respecting its cultural values is part of sustainable tourism. It can introduce visitors to the history and the story behind the event.
