1. The ingestible sensor is noninvasive and can provide valuable information.
2. The patient is able to swallow a device, much like a pill, that can provide information such as gut health, disorders, the impact of food, medical supplements, and environmental changes on gastrointestinal system.
3. As the sensor progresses throughout the digestive tract, it sends information to a hand held device.
4. Providers are able to gather images and monitor luminal fluid from all segments of the digestive system.
5. Fluids are able to be evaluated for electrolytes, enzymes, metabolites, hormones, and microbial flora throughout out the GI tract.
6. Most devices are developed to function by requiring low power and the ability to transmit data.
          http://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/acssensors.7b00045

The ingestible sensor provides a better view of the digestive tract because it does not have the regidity that the normal endoscopy tools have.
3.

I personally believe that ingestible sensors can be beneficial to medicine. The sensors have the ability to provide important medical information for people who suffer from many diffeent conditions. In regards to GI problems, the patient is able to forgo an invasive encoscopic procedure. By skipping this procedure, the patient also avoids sedation, venipunctures, and other potentially dangerous interventions.
