They mentioned how a comma acts as like a runway when used in a dialogue, they can be used to "take off" a sentence or to end a sentence. 
Next, I learned what an appositive is, and how to use commas with them.

Apostrophes are used to indicate missing letters. Ex. They're rather than saying they are. 
Apostrophes are used either before or after possessions. You will use an apostrophe differently when talking about 2 people sharing an item than talking about 2 people separately.

As I was walking up the stairs to go in, I could smell the freshly cut grass that the kids were playing football on. As I took my first steps in it felt like I shrunk, the rec center was filled with teenagers and adults. They were all working out in the weight room and playing pool, but once I seen the basketball court my eyes locked in because that’s where boxing practice began. The clock finally hit 5 o’clock and teenagers and adults started making their way in with their boxing bag over their shoulder. After an hour of running in the basketball court area, we gathered our things and went into the room next to it. The hallway that separated the two rooms was so narrow and it was crammed with a bunch of gym equipment, my hands were sweaty as I was squeezing on the strap of my bag. What is this room we are going in? Walking in I could smell the leather from the boxing bags. After a few exercises we put our wraps on and that is when I put boxing gloves on for the first time. The heaviness from the gloves were like an anchor pulling my hands down. Trying with every bit of energy to try to keep my hands up to follow the directions from the coaches. Then the bit of force I had hitting the bag making a small dent in it as my glove hit it once I brought my hand back the punching bag would return to normal. The more punches I threw and as more sweat began to flow from my face the more I started to love the sport of boxing.
