  • physical distancing amongst performers and between performers and the audience 
  • reducing the number of people 
  • reducing the length of time an activity is conducted. 
  • Music teachers, including those who work across multiple sites, can run onsite lessons.

- what time of day is it? where do you think it is? who is in the scene? what are they doing? what has just happened? what is about to happen? (responses can be jotted down, remembered and then discussed, added to a shared doc, etc as appropriate)
3. Have students write a description of the scene as the music is being played again (length and details appropriate to the age group). 3. This could be a whole class or small group task. Spend some time experimenting with the sounds available.
4. Compose a short piece of music to play to the polar bears to help them sleep. Rehearse, modify, rehearse, perform. 
5. If involving small groups, have them perform immediately after one another and record in one take. Have a computer with youtube available projected onto the whiteboard or a wall. Hang up some fairy lights, turn the lights off, hand out some glow in the dark bands (20 from coles for about $2) and have a ‘Karaoke night’ in your classroom.
 
You could do the same set up but run the class as an ‘open mic’. Ask one of the more confident students to host the open mic and invite students to sign up to perform a song. Once the first student kicks it off, you won’t be able to stop them signing up!
