         <description><![CDATA[<p>From 1980 to 2000 the leading activity was watching tv, experiencing a slightly decline near 2010. Around the 60 and 70% of elderly population spend their free time watching tv.  </p><p>Hiking is the activity which remains increasing all over the period, being the most popular activity in 2010. In 1980 only 20% of population used to hike, but the trend dramatically increases all over the years, and in 2010, 80% of elderly people do hiking. </p><p>Otherwise, activities like reading and surfing the internet were growing from 2000 to 2010. Reading went from 20% to 60% and surfing the internet was from around 18% to 50%. Theatre experienced a decline from 1980 to 1990, but from this year, started to grow up, but not in the same proportion as reading and surfing the internet.</p>]]></description>

In 1980, fewer than 10% of older adults used the Internet, while approximately 60% spent their free time watching tv. By 2000, several significant changes can be observed, Internet use and reading both increased sharply by around 40%, whereas the proportion of people watching TV declined slightly. Over this 30 year timeframe, participation in hiking rose dramatically by about 60%, making it one of the fastest growing free time activities among the elderly.</p>]]></description>

On the other hand<strong> Reading</strong> &nbsp;reaching a plateau in 1990 in contrast with the period between 2000 to 2010 where the activity increased steadily.</p><p>Finally, <strong>surfing the internet </strong>was lower than other activities like reading or hiking in 1980 to 2000, but increased steadily from 2000 to 2010.</p><p>In summary the most popular activities were watching tv and hiking, and the less popular were theatre and reading.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>This graph looks at how elderly people in the US spent their spare time over three decades. We have five different activities to compare.</p><p>The main thing we can see is that active and digital hobbies became much more popular. For example, hiking was not very common in 1980, only 20%, but it grew every year until it became the number one activity at 80%. It is the biggest change in the chart.</p><p>On the other hand, watching TV stayed very high and stable. It started at 60% and stayed around that level for the whole period.</p><p>About the other activities, surfing the internet was almost zero in the beginning, but after the year 2000, it really took off and finished at 50%. Reading and theatre were a bit different... they went up and down several times. Reading, specifically, had a big drop in 2000 but recovered at the end.</p>]]></description>

Reading was lower at 30%, and hiking was only 20%. Very few elderly people used the Internet, at about 5%. In the 1990s, hiking rose quickly to around 40%, the same level as reading, while theatre fell to about 30%.</p><p>In the 2000s and 2010s, hiking continued to increase and became the most popular activity, reaching about 80% in the final period. Internet use also grew steadily to around 50%. Reading dropped to 20% in the 2000s but then increased to about 60% in the 2010s. It compares reading, hiking, theatre, watching TV and surfing the internet. </p><p>Hiking and surfing the internet increased strongly since 1980 and reading was the most important free times activity in the 2010.</p><p>On the over hand, fron 1980 to 2000 watching TV was increasing and was the first activity, but still the 2000 it decreased and is was not the first anymore.</p><p>Reading and theatre showed decline and increasebetween 1980 and 2010, but fron 2000, they aumented, and very quikly for reading.</p><p>Overall, except watching TV, allfree tines activities increased forn the 2000, showing the american elderly have more free time activities consumption.</p><p>Finally form 1980 to 2010, hiking, reading and surfing the internet grew much more than other activities, but in 2010 watching TV was still the second more usefull.</p>]]></description>

At the start of the period, watching tv was the most popular free time activity of the elderly in the United States for two decades and then showing a gradual decline from 2000 onwards.</p><p>With regard to the theatre activity, it was the second most popular activity at the beginning, but falling dramatically from 1980 to 1990 and then grew slowly for a decade and reached a plateau from 2000.&nbsp; On the other hand, the graph illustrates that surfing the internet activity was the lower percentage than others between 1980 and 2000 and have grown since 2000.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>
