The art with Miss Evanna was incredible! She also taught us about little fruits called Quandong If you're tired and you eat two Quandongs you will be full of energy! I did lots of different indigenous patterns and symbols. I did a kangaroo and all around it was so many different patterns and symbols. The story behind it was the kangaroo was playing around in the desert and the ocean. It was amazing seeing what Miss Evanna can do! I really hope I get to do this again another time. It was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!

Book: Say Yes

Say Yes is a book about aboriginal people and how life was for them. There were so many unfair laws. Aboriginal people had to scrub their bodies down if they wanted to go in the pool. In 1967 the laws finally changed. Otherwise the sadness it was a great book.

Klynton Wanganeen's Talk

Klynton Wanganeen talked about so many different things. He talked about all of his relatives, he also talked about how he walked to meet with other clans to trade stones and other things. He talked about how the woman had to gather most of the things they needed while the men hunted. He talked about how he had to travel but sometimes the answer would be no, I thought this related to the book Say Yes.

Sonny Morey is one of the people who got taken from his aboriginal family. When he went to school he couldn't understand what the teacher was saying, what changed his life was a person who went up to him and gave him a hug. He achieved his dream to be the first aboriginal person to be in the AFL hall of fame. Anyone can learn from Sonny Morey I learnt that anyone can achieve their dream.

What is reconciliation and why is it important?

Reconciliation means to respect someone's culture and to say sorry. Reconciliation is important because it is a day to say sorry to aboriginal and Torres strait islander people and respect everyone's culture. Aboriginal and Torres strait islander people were treated poorly before the 1967 vote, this vote counted aboriginal people as citizens of the country. It won 90%!! Now aboriginal and Torres strait islander people are counted as citizens.
