1. "MONA LISA" IS NOT HER NAME.

The painting's subject is commonly thought to be Lisa Gherardini, whose wealthy and presumably adoring husband Francesco del Giocondo. This explains the less prevalent title for the painting, La Gioconda, or La Joconde in French.

2. NAPOLEÓN

The french emperor once had Mona Lisa hanging in his Bedroom in the Tuileries Palace for about four years, beginning in 1800.

3. THE MONA LISA IS ESSENTIALLY PRICELESS.

In the 1960s, the painting went on a tour where it was given a insurance valuation of $100 million but factoring in inflation, more recent assessment estimated it's worth $2.5 billion.

FUN FACTS:
1. SHE MIGHT NOT BE VENUS.

Some have suggested the sculpture is not Aphrodite or Venus, but Amphitrite, the sea goddess who was particularly adored on Milos.

2.SHE'S BEEN ROBBED!

Venus is missing more than just her arms. She was originally draped in jewelry including a bracelet, earrings and a headband. These flourishes are long lost, but the holes for fixing them to the piece remain in the marble.

3.
