Question#2 Chapter 9

The most important lesson i learned in chapter nine was Attachment. The main purpose i chose attachment is because it really affects a person's development in many ways while also playing a huge factor on a person's happiness and connection to people around them. Attachment plays a crucial role in shaping various aspects of a person's life. In the textbook (Page #301 Social-Emotional Development) it speaks upon how Infants come into the world equipped with innate behaviors that facilitate the establishment of attachment with primary caregivers. These behaviors could include verbal cues such as crying and nonverbal cues such as smiling. A image in the book that caught my attention was (figure 9.25 on page #302) it shows a child being comforted by his father, the father was comforting the child by kissing him this image really captures the whole idea of attachment in my eyes because the child is feeling loved and protected by his father thus increasing their bond together. In the Text book on the same page it talks about how physical touch is a vital role in infant development because it provides support for the biological, nature argument for attachment.

Question#3 the “Self-Motivation Quiz”

I scored a 46 i do agree with the majority of what my results say aside from it saying i spend a significant time and effort on setting goals and acting to achieve those goals. You attract and inspire others with your success. I feel as if these are thing i could possess but have to work on for the most part as of now. If i were to try to attract and inspire others i could but i really haven't tried. After Reading chapter #11 again i feel that i relate to the Incentive theory the most which is basically The theory that motivation results from external stimuli that “pull” an organism in certain directions.(Page#357 Chapter#11) My motivation is always driven from what would come afterwards basically saying what rewards comes after whether it being me going to the gym everyday and slowly seeing progress or me getting good grades to keep my parents proud. The reward after is what also drives me to achieve the most i could no matter what i'm doing.

Question#4 the “Self-Confidence Quiz”

I scored a 53 i think i am confident in most of the situations im put in for the most part. I feel most confident when i'm doing something i enjoy like working on cars or bikes because i see those as hobbies more than tasks even though that's what i do for work. While school on the other hand i struggle with which is something i need to work on. I feel like i relate to mastery experiences which stems from self efficacy. As stated on the website where i took the quiz MindTools.com it says Mastery experiences are things you have succeeded at in the past and those achievements where you know that it was your hard work and effort that brought about success. This really captures how i feel about my own confidence i feel that it stems from practicing something over and over until i've perfected it and once i have i will be much more confident in myself.

Question #5 Locus of Control Quiz

I feel that luck does play a factor is some things for example the saying "Right place at the right time" things like that are true where luck plays a role in putting you in a good situation, but being able to capitalize off that luck is what really matters. My results are accurate because i don't let others control my life or depend on luck although luck could play a factor in some situation but it's as i stated above it what you do after that luck. Im take responsibility for myself and my family by working hard and holding myself accountable on many different occasions. On the website idrlabs.com it says Undifferentiated locus of control is when they are liable to believe that they can exercise control over the outcomes of events in their lives and think that such results are determined by their own efforts and abilities. This describes my personality accurately and i could relate to it because i don't rely on anyone or anything aside from myself.

After looking back at chapter 13 i decided that the best piece of information that we learned about from chapter 13 was Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I find it very complex while also being interesting, i think it's cool to take a look at our brains and realised how they actually work to see why people have OCD. In the book on chapter 13 page #447 it speaks upon how many different celebrities experience OCD and how it could be managed through therapy and medication, and lead highly productive and fulfilling lives even while still having OCD.

Question #7 Most Interesting Topics

Although it's hard to decide since we've gone over so many different materials throughout the course the ones that were most interesting to me were stress and the many different types of stresses. Stress was the most interesting to me because i feel its something everyone in the class could relate to for the sole reason that no matter what you do in life everyone's always experienced some type of stress whether it being about work, school, or even anything else. The book points out some very interesting/important points regarding Stress, chapter 3 section 3.1 page 80 highlights that stress could impact many health factors a major one being the immune system which could lead to diseases such as bursitis, colitis, Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, periodontal disease, and even the common cold. Before reading that i really didn't know the negative factors being stressed out could lead to would be so severe.

As this class comes to an end i feel that i enjoyed it for the most part and didn't really find anything to complain about because most of the work was straightforward and could've been found in the book. Although there was a lot of work to do like i said before none of it was really too hard for me to handle and i pretty much enjoyed the class for the most part.
