This building is a Islamic shrine located on the Temple Mount in the old city of Jerusalem and was made from 691-92 C.E. under the order of  Umayyad Caliph Abd al-Malik.
I believe it was made to show both there skill and what the believe in for all Muslims.
I believe it shows what they did to respect thoughs who are a part of there religon as a place to prair.

3. I think this item is part of a completed Qur'an, which leads me to believe that someone who was religious carried this with them. The purpose of this item would be to practice your religion and maybe even spread the beliefs to others.

This picture shows a symbol of what looks like a creature of some sort. This picture makes me feel like each stroke on this piece of work represented something meaningful. It is known as the "Baslmala". It was made in the 18th century. 
I believe this piece of calligraphy was made to tell a story or represent something that does.

I see the Islamic Empire and it's locations. i think it's crazy how much they were expanded and how much they had to control. They had so much control because of their bordering around the bodies of water.
