When working with infants/toddlers I have learned how important it is to create lessons based on children's interest. One way to gather children's interest can be observation and documentation. Lastly, when implementing activities let it be child-lead and allow the children to bring in materials they feel they need to help grow in developmental stages. Engaging in their conversations can help the activities grow.

Providing a simple and clear documentation from observations for infants/toddlers are important for a clear understanding for parents and guardians and care takers of the child. Having the language relatable to both the parent and student for a clear understanding, so both the teacher and care takers are in the same page. Having communication and providing what we can to best support the children.

I have learned how important it is to observe and document in order to plan and meet the needs of all children. I hope I can continue to use learning stories throughout my career.

Before this course I had never understood infant and toddler care outside of the parent or guardians other than "daycare". I loved to explore the Reggio Emilia curriculum and learn more about their teaching methods. I also loved learning more about Gerber and her views on treating babies so differently than what is traditionally taught.

It is also great for family engagement because they can write their own or respond! I like how dynamic this is and the fact that it can be used for anyone.

I have been learning about it in this class and my ECS 212 Children Literature class . It just an awesome tool to consider for many reasons but I loved it more because there is family engagement. Families can write their own response when the teacher writes about the individual child. Also I will like to learn more about Reggio Curriculum and the methods.

I had only ever heard them mentioned maybe once or twice and find it to be such a useful tool for children and can help parents understand the learning that is happening. I loved how it started because the parents were only keeping the photos and throwing away beneficial notes on the child. Instead of blaming parents the program acknowledged the issue, asked why this was happening and adapted so that parents could keep the pictures and understand the child's learning story as well. It provides parents with not only a informative but beautiful piece to take home.
