For Singapore to thrive globally, it needs to stay connected and engaged with the world. That means being active in international organizations, maintaining balanced and respectful relationships with major powers, and building a strong reputation as a reliable, forward-looking nation.

Security today goes beyond military strength. It includes protecting digital systems and being ready for unexpected challenges like pandemics or climate events. Singapore focuses on building resilience so it can respond quickly and recover effectively when needed.

In a city like Singapore where land is super limited, building underground can be a smart way to free up space. Instead of cramming everything above ground, things like transport systems, utilities, or even shopping areas can go below the surface. That leaves more room up top for parks, housing, and public spaces, making the city more livable without feeling overcrowded.

Con:

However, going underground is not an easy implementation. It takes serious engineering, careful planning to avoid existing pipes and tunnels, and a lot of money. Plus, not everything can be built underground, and safety is a big concern. Compared to building upwards, underground projects can be slower and way more complicated.

One thing I really learnt from this module is how important diversity is in Singapore. It’s not just about different races or cultures living together, but also about understanding and respecting each other.

Advice:

Singapore is small, not much land and we don’t have many natural resources. But still, we made it work. That’s something I really admire. To be resilient here, you must learn to adapt, think outside the box, and make the most of what you have. It’s not always easy, but if you keep trying and don’t give up, you’ll find your way. Just like how this country grew strong from so little, you can too.

Suggestion:

To build a strong and inclusive nation, we need to learn to see things from other people’s point of view, not just our own. Be open, be respectful, especially to those from minority races who might not always feel seen. Even small actions like listening more, asking questions, or standing up for someone can make a big difference.

2. One thing I learnt during this game is that negotiation is important. If you know how to talk to the other person well, I will get what you want from them. For example, in a job interview, you can apply this skill to secure a job.

Sometimes it’s hard to understand everything, especially coming from a different background. But I’ve learned that being open-minded and respectful, especially to smaller communities, is really important here. Singapore’s identity keeps evolving, and even though I’m new, I feel like I’m part of that journey too.

First, I think it’s amazing that Singapore is offering longer parental leave. One year gives parents proper time to bond with their child, especially in those early months when everything is new and overwhelming. It shows that the country is taking family life seriously, not just focusing on work and productivity.

Second, I feel like this could encourage more young couples to start families. With the cost of living being so high, many people hesitate to have kids. But knowing they’ll have time off and support might make a big difference in their decision.

Two things that worry me:

One thing I worry about is how companies will handle this, especially smaller businesses. Not every workplace has the resources to cover someone’s role for a whole year, so it might create stress for both the employer and the team.

Also, even if the policy exists, I’m not sure everyone will feel comfortable taking the full leave. In some work cultures, people might feel guilty or worry they’ll fall behind.

Even small things like food, school life, and how people talk like using Singlish plays a part in shaping who they are. The government also encourages things like racial harmony and bilingualism, which helps people feel part of something bigger.

It’s not just one fixed identity here. It feels like people are always adapting, learning from each other, and finding new ways to connect.
