Jacob Collier is an amazing self-taught multi-instrumentalist and performer. I hear that his performances involve the crowd pretty strongly. I'm actually going to see him in Toronto next May, provided COVID doesn't get in the way.

An instrument I wish I could play

One instrument I wish I could play is the harmonica. I can play the harmonica a little bit, but not very well. I usually just play it for small harmonica lines while accompanying myself on another instrument (think songs like Piano Man.) Outside of this, though, the harmonica is a surprisingly versatile instrument. The repertoire ranges from pop and rock to of course blues, and even some cool classical applications.

I discovered The Fearless Flyers through my Spotify recommended about a month or two ago. I don't know much about them and I can't find too much info, but they seem to share many members and have a similar musical style to the band Vulfpeck, which I also love. Both bands' music is pretty interesting and definitely worth a listen.

My favourite music genre

My favourite music genre would probably have to be jazz, because of its complex yet beautiful harmonies and melodies. There's also other genres that I also love that jazz has a strong influence on, such as hip-hop, soul, funk, etc. Not to mention the creative freedom possible from all the improvisation in jazz.

Adam Neely is an interesting YouTube channel that I've been watching for years. He covers a pretty wide variety of topics regarding music, some videos talk more about harmony and theory, while other videos tackle music history or sometimes social/political topics that are common in music discourse currently. Pretty cool overall!

My family isn't too musical, but my mom played the piano until around the 9th grade, which I also play. My dad also played the baritone horn in elementary school. According to him he wasn't the best at it. But that influenced my decision to pick up the baritone for music class in 6th grade, and I switched to tuba a year or two later.
