Did you know John Lennon was shot four times by a deranged fan? This is from a Fox News story looking back on the murder of John Lennon and how it impacted musical history. It's an example of a secondary source because, first of all, this was written 43 years after the murder. Also, the writer did not have a first-hand account of the murder and what happened, rather relying on multiple other primary sources to support their claims. Many primary sources coming together is a secondary source.

This book tells the story of John Lennon and how he came to be assassinated. This is a prime example of a secondary source because it is a biography telling Lennon's story that built up to his assassination. The writer did not experience the murder herself, but rather, she had to do research look for other sources and putting them together. This was also written in 2012, which is not in the same time period as the murder, so it's not a first hand account of the murder and what happened but it still informs about the assassination.
