Spanish Months Song

While this is a very simple resource, this section of material is simple-the months of the year. Students can memorize this catchy song to promote retention of these topics. Along with the verbal guide, it also provides a visual of the actual words, helping to promote retention of the spelling of each of these months. In my county, the basics of Spanish are spread out for the entire year, for this particular unit, the months are taught as well. This is a simple way to address a topic that doesn't match the overarching theme of the unit.

This is an infographic for weather in Spanish. This is another very basic structure in Spanish, and using simple resources allows for students to retain the information. One of the main components of language learning that I employ is by removing English from graphics and images. This allows students to solely relate what they are seeing to Spanish, rather than translating it in their head. This one is excellent, since it does not have any English in relation to the images.

This is a set of flashcards that come directly from the textbook that forms our curriculum. Students can time themselves answering questions, and can also decide if each word is one that they are familiar with or if they don't know. This is not only a way for students to test themselves on the material, but it also allows them to take an active moment to realize whether or not they know a word.

This is a typical warm-up in my classroom. It brings fun into learning, and many students feel very naturally motivated to complete this as they study. This is also a wonderful information gap activity for students to use as practice, if they are struggling in class.

This is an excellent video to teach students about ordering numbers. This is another very simple section of our lesson in this unit. This is a resource they can watch at home, offering them another way to hear the lesson. I feel that providing extra commentary is always important. There are multiple ways to explain something in Spanish, and often students might need to hear it multiple ways before it clicks.

This is an excellent resource for students, as it is a story completely in Spanish, using language that is comprehensible to students. This is another efficient way for students to receive more input in the target language. It includes important vocab from this unit, along with some new words that students can write down, and see if they are able to find the meaning.

Every unit I review over the importance of learning a language. We go over the expectations of where they are supposed to be producing in the language. This video is a great way to remind students of why they should learn a language. It can often be difficult to continue on in a language, but this video is a way to motivate students to remember the importance and maintain a growth mindset in each unit.

This is a practice revolving around applying actual weather in certain countries to practice. Students will look up the weather in certain cities and countries, and then label what the weather is like based on that temperature. This helps students to not only familiarize themselves with new countries and cities, but it also allows them to apply real weather.

I also appreciate that this resource is again focused solely on Spanish. There is not an english translation listed, allowing students again to fully grasp the concept, with just Spanish.
