This marks the beginning of almost two years of repressing perceived enemies of the Revolution. It will claim an estimated 18,500-40,000 lives before its end in July 1794.<br>2. February 4: Slavery is abolished in all French colonies.<br>3. February 26-March 3: The Laws of Ventose authorize the seizure and redistribution of property belonging to enemies of the Revolution.<br>4. Robespierre is accused of dictatorship and arrested along with two other members of the Jacobins in 1975.<br>5. Robespierre and twenty of his followers are guillotined in 1795.</div>]]></description>
