         <title>Donatello&#39;s early Life</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Donatello's full original name is Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi. He was born on in 1386, in Florence Italy. He died on December 13th, 1466. Donatello’s dad Niccolò di Betto Bardi was a Florentine wood Carder. It is unknown how he started his career, although it is known that he learned how to carve stone from sculpture working on a cathedral in Florence. It is known that in between 1407 and 1404 started working in the famous sculpture Lorenzo Ghiberti’s workshop. Lorezno was a bronze sculptor that won the competition for the doors of baptistry which Donatello assisted him with. One of Donatello's first sculptures of Saint John the Evangelist (Janson). &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

Schiacciato is a technique of sculpting that is very shallow carving that allows you to put incredible detail into sculptures. It is like shading on a piece of paper, it adds shadows to the sculpture. With this technique this allowed sculptures to appear to have emotions, movement, and depth (Janson). &nbsp;</div>]]></description>
