"According to my information...Immediately. Without delay." he replied. Long story short, this mistake made the Berlin wall to start falling. The law, which the president was talking about, was actually was supposed to go into effect starting from the next day. However, he had no time to read the law document, so he had to read from his hand-written notes, which conveyed misleading message. Then, both in the east and west Germany, there were television news reports of stunning news that GDR, the East Germany, opened its borders. Then, citizens of East slowly moved to the Berlin wall, and soon, a misleading news report said that "The gates in the wall are now wide open". This was a little earlier than the actually time, but it was too late to go back. And it did not take much time until people met each other.
